Stoneware clay, glaze of ashes from discarded flowers from the cemetery

I discovered a compost container at the cemetery filled with wilting bouquets, wreaths, and cards, expressions of grief and love from the bereaved. The sight of these symbols of human emotion, now discarded and left to rot, inspired me to extend their lifespan through the eternalizing medium of ceramics. I burned the flowers into ash, mixed it into a glaze, and made a relief for the flowers, drawing aesthetic inspiration from gravestones and with the motif of a fruit bearing tree, a symbol of the cyclical life.
