The work draws, among other things, on the ship as a recurring symbol in death mythologies and burial rituals, from Nordic interments where the boat functioned as a carrier between worlds, to the notion of a journey through water as a passage to the underworld. The work is an anxious attempt to alter and manipulate the mythology by suspending the ship in its passage between life and death, allowing time to temporarily coagulate
